Fleurs edge to edge launch

Good Morning, it's time for a new release from Fleurs

In the past we've brought you dies that cut whole flowers, individual petals and super large blooms, this time it's edge to edge quilling.

I was sent the following dies to work with

Here are my samples

In this card I cut 3 of cornflowers, 2 from Fleurs cardstock and 1 from mulberry paper, I teamed them up with a leaf from a previous collection.

I cut 3 of the cornflowers from Fleurs cardstock but this time added stamen to the flowers to give a different look. I added 2 of the willow leaves in grey card.

This is a previous flower cut in Fleurs flower forming foam. I cut 2 of the willow leaves and used the negative/waste to stencil through in the background.

This card was made using the Fleurs cardstock in both pink and green.  I added leaves from both this collection and a preivous to show how well you can use all of the dies together.

In this card I have used 6 flowers and 4 leaves split into two clusters in opposite corners.

Lastly I have used just the willow leave to create a very simple wreath, sometimes you just want to add a little touch and this is a perfect look.

The dies launch today on Create and Craft TV.

Paperbabe Stamps New Release

It's release day for Paperbabe Stamps and we have some fabulous projects to share with you. Over the next 3 days we will be sharing projects made with the new release, each day will highlight a different from the release.

I have used the new MDF frame  which gives the impression of looking up through the rabbit hole at Alice.

I used the Alice mixed media template and Female face stamps to create my Alice Portrait. I then embellished it with two of the MDF Flourishes and the Go where your dreams take you stamp.

My outer frame was painted using acrylic paint in 3 shades of green, black and white. I used a fan brush to flick the paint towards the centre of the frame creating texture.
My base layer and Alice herself were painted using Neo colour II.

You can find all of the products used in the Paperbabe Stamps Store (New release will be in store on 2nd June) and more information and inspiration at Paperbabe Stamps Blog.

Pin Up Girls by Rare Earth

Hello there, I hope you are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend.

I'm here to share some cards I made this week for the launch of Rare Earth's Pin Up Collection
The collection includes 3 sets of stamps filled with awesome retro imagery. There are signs, sentiment, frames, a Vintage car and 2 stunning pin up girls.

I was asked to make samples and had a very tight deadline to work to (24 hours)

I decided to work in themed sets, creating 3 lots of 3. Each set has a different feel from the next, working this way helps to keep the ideas flowing.

My first set has a retro 50's American diner feel to it. I worked with Blue,Red and white. Some of the samples use water colour and others were coloured with alcohol pens.

This next set has a pop art feel to it, I used a stencil to add dots over he images to give it a funky look.
The car bursting through the front of the card was my daughters ides and I love how it's turned out.

Lastly I wanted to use the image to create more of a vintage look. I have stuck with Kraft card, beige and brown ink and white card.  I wanted to show how the stamps could be used to create a card for a man using the car image, I heated embossed the car and used some Rare Earth Dessert sand ink with water to colour it.

I hope my cards have given you some inspiration on how you could use these amazing stamps, I'm totally in love with them and had a real struggle letting them go in the post for the launch show.

You can catch the launch on Monday at 11am on Create and craft TV

Neo Victoriana by Tattered Lace dies

Hey, I hope you are all well, I'm here to share my DT samples created for the lunacy of Neo Victoriana from Tattered Lace dies.

I've always been intrigued by Steampunk fanatics and fancied trying my hand at some Steampunk cards, so when I was asked to work with this collection I was more than happy to say yes.

Here are the samples I created

In this card I used the chain frame dies to emboss my heart and add a frame.

Here I've used the chain as a frame and added some cogs

Cogs, clocks and mechanical birds, this card has it all going on. It's an easel card that gives the impression of the clock having exploded.

Next up is the dome.bell jar card, which has 2 openings

Here is the inside

For this card I wanted to make a feature of the backing paper, so I added some black silhouette images.

I wanted to make a pop up box card to use as many of the new dies as possible

Copper embossing and multiple colours of gilding wax help achieve the look.

Here I've used a branch die from my collection to sit the mechanical bird on inside of the dome

Lastly I created a cover for a journal, lots of gilding wax, embossing and time went into this project.

I hoe you like what you've seen and will be watching the launch show at 7pm Thursday 24th May. The products I used are linked below

Stunningly Simple Watercolor Techniques

Good morning crafty friends, today I have a new card to share with you. I created this card after taking the "Stunningly Simple Watercolor Techniques" class at Altenew Academy.

I chose to work with the colour teal as it's my favourite colour and looks so yummy in the warm weather we are experiencing.

I started by stamping and embossing one of the large images from the stamp set in Platinum. I then added a wash of clean water to the card stock before adding teal tones to the card.  I used Altenew Sea Shore Inks with a little water to create a colour wash.  I started off darker at the top of the card and faded the colour as I moved towards the bottom. I also added flicks of teal to the card to add texture and interest.

Once dry I embossed a piece of white card with the Platinum embossing powder so that I could create some embellishments for my card.  I added a piece to the bottom of my card and also die cut my sentiment and some sequins from the same piece, continuing the colour theme.

I learnt so many things from Lydia Evans classes and will be adding the new techniques to my cards.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #73 - Design Team inspiration

Hey there Paperbabe stamp fans, it's time for a new challenge, this time we have a picture theme to work with. You can use the colours, patterns or any element you wish, just have fun and let your creativity run wild.

I have created a card to help spark your imagination

To create my clean and simple card I used shapes from both the Doll face stamp set and Folk Fabrique stamp set and then added a sentiment from the Birthday Wishes stamp set. I chose to create a retro pattern in colours from the inspiration picture, I placed my design diagonally over the lower part of my card to create a modern look with movement.

I hope you'll be joining us in this challenge, if you do you could be in with a chance of winning a prize from Paperbabe herself Kim Costello.

http://paperbabestamps.blogspot.co.uk/ is where you need to go to link your project.

Good luck and I can't wait to see what you create.

For the Love of Color - Altenew educator certification program

Today I am sharing not 1 but 2 cards I created after taking Julie Altermann's For the Love of color class over at Altenew academy.

The class was awesome and full of hints, tips and techniques to help us crafters add that extra detail and lots of colour to our projects.  I learnt lots from the class and could literally make a dozen cards with all the ideas in my head right now, but in my attempt to rein it in and stay controlled I made 2.

The things that stuck with me most from the class were not to be afraid of adding a mix of bright and bold colours to our cards and to think about different ways in which to get colour in there, be it different medium or with the use of die cuts.

I decided that I would go bright with shades or yellow, orange and red and I would also use a die to help me with making my design.

I chose to use the Mandala Die to cut a stencil to ink through. In the process of stencilling the die cut piece got very inky and looked too pretty to dispose of, so I used it to create my second card.

The inks I used in my cards were

Let me know what you think of my cards, I'll be back soon with more crafty makes.

Rare Earth Ladies Vintage Tea Party

Good morning crafty friends, I hope you're enjoying the bank holiday weekend and warm weather.

Today I am making my Rare Earth debut, I was lucky enough to be asked to create some cards using Rare Earth stamps.

As you know I love stamping as it give me the freedom I crave, and allows me to interpret the designs in my own way.

The stamps have been designed by the talented Lexy Rose and are totally amazing.

Although the stamps are designed in a vintage style, I have added my twist to a couple of the card and shown how they could be used to create something different, I hope you like them

My first card is something a little bit funky, I was seeing a 60's psychedelic look in my head when I designed this card. I used a smooching technique for the background and added a little detail with a purple Watercolour pen.

This card uses the same stamp as above but this time she looks a little more elegant, my kids tell me they can see Amy Whinehouse in this one......

I kept this card a little more muted and went for a classic feel.

I'm a big fan of teaming Kraft card and white together, I like the natural earthy look it creates.

In this card I did a little fussy cutting to allow me to add depth and dimension to the images. The spoon is actually slotted into the cut through a little slit.

For this card I decided to colour the hair with alcohol markers and give her some pink lipstick.

My last card was created using both alcohol pens and pencils.  I added a couple of stripes of vintage lace in the background, the stamp sets have lots of lace options in them.

I hope you'll tune in and watch the launch show tomorrow at 9am on Create and Craft TV.

Here's the link to the products used

Rare Earth now has it's own home on Facebook where you can see samples, up coming launches and share your love of Rare Earth.
