Colourcraft Pearl Aztec Eco Metallic Paint - overlaying other mediums.

I was recently sent a bottle of  Pearl Aztec Eco Metallic paint as part of my design team kit from Colourcraft and have been busy trying it out with other mediums to see how they react and what effects they produce.

Here's a closer look at the results and the mediums I tested.

Dry brusho spritzed with water

This gives such a soft and dreamy effect.

Diluted brusho

I like how the colour of brusho remains the same but takes on a pearlescent finish

Brusho Acrylic mist spray

This effect gives a hammered metal look and is rather grungy.

Alcohol marker

The alcohol does move the paint around a little bit but it creates and interesting effect.

Screenprinting ink

This is one of the looks I like the most, I can't wait to try it with different colours of ink.

Colourcraft sell and manufacture some amazing products for use in the Art and Craft industry, I have several projects already on my blog and will be bringing you many more.  If you click on "colourcraft" on the side bar on the right you will be taken to all of my projects using their products.

I'll be back at the weekend with more crafty fun.

Who doesn't love a cactus card or two?

Well it's Monday and in my opinion the weekend went way to fast!

There nothing I like more than a stroll around a garden centre or two at the weekend with my family and of course a cup of tea and cake as a little treat....

Well that reminded me that I hadn't share 2 of my cards featuring Cactus and succulents.

We have an ever growing collection of cactus and succulents in our house and love hunting out new varieties, when I saw these stamps from Hunkydory's for the love of stamps range I had to get them.

This fist card uses the plant images to create a backing paper, I used some bendable coloured pencils to bring the stamped images to life. I added my sentiment onto a couple of black squares of card which I layered up to add dimension and interest.

For this card I used the same images but this time I added them to a sandy desert floor rather than using the plant pots.  I love the Puny sentiments that accompany the images.

Thats all from me for now, I'm off to plant up some pot for my front garden.

Paperbabe Challenge #57 - DT Inspiration

It's time for a new challenge over at Paperbabe Stamps and this time it's a picture inspiration challenge

Use the picture any way you choose, take inspiration from the colours or the image it's up to you.

I have made a tag using some of the colours and the floral theme

I used stamps from the Sugar skull set and the Whimsical woodland set to create my image and added a sentiment from the mayleedee-little-red stamp set.

You can join in the challenge and even be in with a chance of winning a prize by linking your project over on the Paperbabe Stamp Blog.

Two cards from one stencil using Altenew's layered Dahlia stencils

Following on from Tuesday post where I also used Altenew's Layered Dahlia stencils today I have 2 cards to share, one of which is a shaker card.

First up is this floral beauty with added black and gold touches.  I stencilled the background with bright pinks and greens to create a very striking image. I then added a die cut sentiment, I cut 1 form gold and 1 from black and drop shadowed them, the gold picks up on the sequins and softens the harsh edge of the black. I also added a piece of black and white stripped washi tape to tie the colours together.

This next card ueses the same stencil but in softer shades of pink and green for a more dreamy look.

I used the bold alphabet dies to cut X's and O's for my shaker window. I mounted the front panel onto acetate and then placed thick foam tape around the edge on the reverse, this will keep all of my sequins and beads in place.  I added a grey card layer onto my card blank and placed my chosen filling on top, I then place the front panel over it, this way you can align the edges more accurately.  I also added some sequins and dew drops to complete the look.

I'm not sure which I like the best as they are both very pretty, which is your favourite?

Shery has designed 25 amazing stamps, the sentiments are fantastic and the typeface is really cool. They can be used in modern or traditional projects and stamp perfectly first time.

I decided to go with a classical look, choosing white and silver embossing.  The tree is triple ambossed using the Trendy tree's stamp. Delight in the joys stamp

Next up is something a little more colourful, I heat embossed the sentiment in green and stamped a background using a mini tree from the Trendy tress set. From Across the Miles stamp

Lastly I have gone luxurious with gold embossing and gold card. I wanted to keep the look crisp and clean. Like Christmas stamp

I've had lots of fun working with these stamps and they will definitely be featuring on my Christmas cards for friends and family this year.

2 ways with Altenew's bold alphabet dies and layered Dahlia stencils.

Morning, today I am sharing 2 cards I created at the weekend, I actually made 7 but I'm going to spread out the blog posts...

I recently purchased the Altenew Bold alphabet dies and couldn't wait to get them out and play.

I wanted to use them with a background that I had stencilled (using the layered dahlia Stencils) and wan't sure how to progress with, you know exactly what I mean dont you? All those things sat in the box of half finished projects.

Well out came the background and the new dies and this was the result, a teal and grey card with a bold look.  The lettering was cut out of the background panel which meant I had these to use on another project, a 2 for 1 or 2fa as I call it in my craft room lol.

I thought it would be fun and a bit of a challenge to use the letters left from the first project on the same background but in another colourway. I opted for shades of grey as this would allow the teal letters to pop more.  I placed the letters on to foam pads and added a strip of grey card with the words "sending you" which are from the Tulip stamp set

I am so in love with the grey and teal colour combination, what do you think of these cards?

Paperbabe Stamps Male mdf substrates.

Thanks for joining me today, it's a really exciting day for Paperbabe stamps as Kim has added "lots" of new products to the store and we have pictures and samples to share with you.

Kim - Miss Paperbabe herself, designs and produces stamps, stencils and MDF substrates, you are probably familiar with the female faces but have you seen the male version?

Lets take a look at the new products and then I'll share my projects.

There are 3 mdf substrates that can be used along with the male face stamps to create stunning piece of art.

The side fringe is a nice casual look, the hair comes in 2 sections so you can add shading for a realistic look.

The side swept bangs, in my opinion, creates a younger look. Each kit comes with 2 jumper styles and collar options.

Pompadour is a really trendy style, modern and hip. You can choose to style your piece however you wish, in the picture above Kim has teamed the mdf with the Sugar skull stamp set, perfect for Halloween.

Now for some additional extras that really allow you to personalise your project:

If bald is more your style then Kim has catered for you too with the bald head substrate, it can be used with any of the above kits instead of the hair included. Of course you could use this along with the stamp set on a canvas or home decor project.

How do you feel about facial hair? Are you a lover of the modern hipster beard that seems very trendy at the moment?  There are 3 beards and 2 moustaches per pack.

Of course every cool dude needs glasses or shades in his life! There are four styles, these can be painted any colour, leave the lens out for glasses or add them in for shades. You can also use these with the female mdf kits too.

Is formal more your thing? If so, maybe you'll want to add a tie or bow tie to your creation, you could really have fun with these.

Here's a little peek at what you could do with the mdf kits and stamps. I love how your options are endless, so many combinations and looks can be achieved.

All of the items are now in the Paperbabe Stamps Store, along with lots of other temping goodies.

Now onto my projects

I used the Pompadour mdf kit and male face stamp set to create my project. I chose acrylic paint and pencils to add colour and shading. You can keep it as simple as you like or go to town on it and add lots of detail, this was my first project so I kept it simple.

My second project

This time I decided to go for a different look, an older guy with facial hair and shades. I used acrylic paint and a Gelli plate to colour the mdf as shown by Kim in one of her Hochanda shows. I love this way of colouring the mdf as it's so quick and you gets so much detail as shown in the beard below.

As you can see these kits are so much fun, I do hope you'll try one out and share your results with us on the Paperbabe Stamps Fan Group

New Fleurs Flower Forming Foam - DT samples

I am really excited to share this post with you today. If you haven't heard of Fleurs flower forming where have you been?  They design and manufacture amazing dies for you to use to create your own flowers to use on your craft projects.  They also have a tool kit, inks and speciality papers.

Here's the best bit.........

They have now added another amazing product to their range, Flower forming foam!  You can die cut it, heat it with an iron or with the warmth of your hands and shape it to give you the most realistic looking flowers imaginable.

I was asked to create some show samples for the release which is happening tomorrow on Create and Craft TV.

As well as the foam there are also new dies.  I was asked to create samples with the Peony petals and Beech leaves.

I made a chalkboard which I decorated with flowers and leaves.

I also made a small posy using several sizes of the peony flowers from buds to full blooms.

The launch is going to be amazing with a 2 hour show full of ideas and demos.

You can watch the show on Create and Craft TV on Thursday at 7pm
