Happy Birthday Kim Costello - Paperbabe Stamps

Good Morning crafty friends, Today the Paperbabe Stamps Design Team have a special treat for you....

Today is Kim's birthday (aka Paperbabe herself). As a team we were conscience of the fact that birthdays in a lockdown situation aren't much fun, so we have put together a mini blog hop of birthday wishes for Kim.

Kim has a very special place in my heart, she welcomed me to her DT four and a half years ago, Paperbabe stamps was my first DT and I've been part of it ever since. I owe Kim so much, without her I dont think I would have had the confidence or experiance I have now, thank you for the oppertunity and for believing in me Kim.

I decided that I would make a Galaxy protrait to share today as they always feel so magical and I love a galaxy. I used the Female Face Dinky Stamp set and coordinating template for the torso and face to create my cute girl, I also used the Mermaid Hair template and chose to leave the hair white to contrast against the colourful sky.

To create the sky, I first of all masked the girl using all of the coordinating mask/templates and some removable adhesive. I then used water reactive inks from Spectrum Noir onto Watercolour card, I blended them using make up brushes and added lots of splaters of white, gold and glitter paint to act as stars in the sky.   I added sentiments using the Flourish and Grow stamp set, which I heat embossed in white.

It's so hard to capture all of the sparkle in a photo, so I hope this little video clip shows it off better.

I'd love you to join me by wishing Kim a very happy birthday in the comments below, I hope you have a wonderful day with your children.

Your next stop is the super talented Chris, below you will find all the stops for the DT.

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #117 Reminder

Good Morning Crafty Friends, I'm sharing a card that I've made for the Paperbabe Stamps challenge.  I wasn't able to take part when we launched the challenge last week, so I thought what better way to join in than a half way reminder.

The challenge this time, is a layout promt, see above. You can use the pucture any way you like, rotate it, flip it...... If you'd like to join in and link your projects, then please visit the Paperbabe stamps Blog

I thought it would be fun to go a little mixed media and use a few items from my crafty stash to create a Pastle card.

I used some Embossing paste, Mica powders and the Dotty Mixed Media Stencil

I added a little of the Mica to the embossing paste and mixed with a palette knife to achiev my deisred colour, unfortunalty you lose the shimmer when doing this but it's still a fun way to make your own coloured paste.

I stamped out one of the 3/4 view dinky faces onto some white watercolour card using a waterproof ink, I also used the flourishing-hair-stamp-set and mixed-media-templates-flourishing-hair to create the look I was wanting.

I used Altenew's Waterbrush markers to add colour to the stamped image for the hair and used a pencil and paper stmp to add shaing to the face. The sentiment is from the flourish-grow-stamp-set

I love how soft and dreamy this card looks. I hope you'll join in with the challenge.

Altenew April 2020 Stamps/Dies/Stencils/Stamping Mat/Sequins Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Welcome to the April 2020 Altenew release, you should have arrived here from the amazing Amber Rain Davis blog, If not don't worry you can go back to the start of the hop at any time by clicking here https://altenewblog.com/April-2020-Release-Blog-Hop

Today's release is packed full of crafty goodness, Stamps, dies, stencils, sequinns and a stamping mat... You can shop the release here >>>Make a statement release

I had so much fun working with this release that I've made 12 cards to share, I could have kept going but I'll save the inspiration for future posts. Get yourself comfy and lets jump right in.

My first 3 cards are made using the Radial Stars Cover Die

I love being able to layer die cut pieces to create drop shadows and new looks, so for this card I cut the cover die twice, once in white and once in teal. I then layered them with a slight drop shadow, this give depth and interest, I then snipped into it to take out a circular area. I placed some of the stars into that area using purple, pink and teal card.  I added a sentimetn using the new Strip Sentiments 2 stamp set.

Paper piecing is another way to get more from your dies, I chose to cut the Radial Stard Cover die in white, pink and Teal, using the white piece I added it to an A2 note card and started adding the stars back in, the easiest way to do this is to use double sided adhesive sheets under the die cut panel.  Using some of the Teal and Pink stars I created a circular area to highlight where the sentiment sits. The snetiment was stamped using the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set, which I heat embossed in white onto the teal cardstock.

Remember in the first card I where snipped out a section of the die cut panel? Well in this card I use it as an embellishment. Firstly I used the new Confetti Stencil along with some texture gel and irridecent glitter to create the background on black card. I love how irridecent glitter  looks different depending on the background it sits against. Once dry I addded the piece snipped from the Radial Stars cover die and then placed a sentiment on top. Such a fun card.

I think this card is my favourite from all I've made from this release. It's so fun, bright and happy. I started by creating a background with the Mixed Sprinkles Stencil, I inked 3 times using Pink Yellow and Teal ink, on the last inking of the teal I kept the stencil in place and added some glitter gel.

I stamped and coloured 2 cupcakes from the Way Too Sweet Stamp Set and coloured them and added some glitter to the frosting. I then fussy cut them and set them aside. The HBD was cut using the Fine Alphabet Die Set, before cutting them I inked 3 scraps of card using the same colours as the background. I cut several more HBD from white card so that I could stack them together to create faux chipboard letters. The "Celebrating you today" sentiment is from the Strip Sentiments 2 stmap set.  I really do love this card.

My next card brings together an older stamp set and a new stencil. I used the Patchwork kite Stencil and some pink ink to create the background, I then stamped and cut the fox using the Huug Me Stamp Set and Hug Me Die Set, I added a sentiment using the Sentiment Strips 2 stmap set and sprinkled and few Satin Gold Sequins for the finishing touch.

Who doesn't love a rainbow? The Over The Rainbow Stencil is such a cute design. The intersections are very fine so I reccoment using a stencil spray adhesive so that they dont more when you are using it. I started by adding some of Altenew's Embossing paste through the stencl (making sure to mask off where I didn't want paste). I removed the stencil and left it to dry. Once dry I added colour to each section using a small eyeshadow brush. I love that you have colour and diemtnion too.

I just love using glitter gel with stencils as you've probably wored out by now. For this card I used the Confetti Stencil, I started by inking a piece of white card with a creamy pigment ink, I did this because when you add the glitter gel over the top it create a lighter, more vibrant shade. I decided to keep the card clean and minimalby cutting the backgeound panel on a diagonal and adding a senitment on a black strip.

Present stamps are such a usfeul thing to have in your crafty stash, the Piles of Presents Stamp Set is a great set, it has a base layer, detail layer, ribbon and bow in several sizes and styles. I used it here along with the Piles of Presents Mask to create a layerd look.

Using the Piles of Presents die set I cut several presents from the Verdant Walk Paper Pack, I then used the Piles of Presents Stamps to add heat embossed ribbons and bows. I added the presents to a white panel which was then added to a piece of Verdant Walk paper with foam tape. I think this card looks stuning, very boutique....

Next up is a floral card, I create this card using the Just Jasmine Stamp set and Matching die set. I started by  inking the background of an A2 notecard using the Patchwork Kite Stencil and some blue ink. I stamped and die cut 2 of the Jasmine Sprigs and adde them to the card using 3D glue gel. I added a seniment in black and sprinkled a few Satin White Sequins.

My second card using the Just Jasmine Stamp Set is a real contrast from the last, I opted for natural tones, I cut an A2 note card from NeeNah Desert Strom card stock as it has a soft kraft colour and a silky surface. I added a piece of Golden Strokes Washi to the card for my Jasmine to sit over, I stamaped the sentiment in a soft brown ink and scattered some of the Antique Gold Sequins.

My final card was stamped using the Envelope Art Stamp Set, as soon as I saw it I had this card planned and stored in my head. I started by stamping the banner, you an have as many sections as you like but I opted for 3 to add my sentiments. I cut a mask using Gina K's Masking Magic sheets, these sheets are awesome as you can stamp over them time and time again and the ink wont seep through to your card. I used the Garden Treaure Stamp set to stamp lots of beautiful blooms. I added 3 sentiments from the Strip Sentiments 2 set and a few Satin White Sequins.

There you have it 12 card made with the new release. Your next stop on the hop is Laura Bassen.

For year 1 I chose to use the Vintage Roses Stamp and matching die set.  This is the first Altenew set I ever purchased (and it got me hooked) The background was stamped with the Wood Pallet Background stamp. The sentiment is from the Label Love stamp set.

The inks used were; Obsidian, Frayed Leaf,Forest Glades,Evergreen, Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Crimson, Velvet and Silver Lake

Year 2

Year 2's card was created with Dodec Cover Die and Succulents stamp set, I added colour using some Alcohol markers.

The Marers used were; Rocky Shore, Cotton Cnady, Espresso, Mocha, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Evergreen.

Year 3

Year 3's card was created with Remember This Stamp Set and Matching Die Set. The background was created with Sketch Lines Stencil

The Inks I used are; Frayed Leaf, Silver Lake, Wisteria, Hydrangea and Ultra Violet

Year 4

Year 4 card was created using Hibiscus Garden 3D DiesPinstripe Stamp Set and Wonderland Stamp Set

The backgound ink is Forest Glades, I cut the flowers and leaves from coloured paper, in the past I have used inks or Alcohol makers, thats what I love about having dies like these, you can colour them in so many ways.

Year 5

Year 5 card was created with Hope Stamp Set and Matching Die, the background was created with the Dotted Scales Cover die

Inks used were; Limeade, Lime, Fresh Leaf, Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, Rubalitte, Razzleberry, Citrus Burst and Maple Yellow.  This card is bright and striking, I love how it makes me feel summery.

Year 6

My final card was created with the Fabulous Florets stamp set and Matching Die Set The background was created with the Ornate Cover Die

I stamped my flowers and leaves with Limade, Lime, Honey Drizzle, Fresh Lemon, Pink Diamond and Pinkalicious. I really like the pink detailed background, I normally go for a very CAS look with lots of white space but this has a grat vibe.
