Everyone loves a rainbow

Hi there fellow crafters, I'm sorry I've been absent recently, I've been having back to back migraines and really struggling to function, let alone craft. Fear not I am back on my feet and ready to craft.

Today is the start of Pride month and I wanted to create a card to celebrate, I'm ot part of the LGBTQ+ community but I like to show my support for all the awesome people who are.

I used the warp speed stencil to add a very light grey ink, I used this as my guide for placing Tonic Nuvo drops. I used the following colours Red Berry, Ripened Pumpkin, Dandelion Yellow, Apple Green, Caribbean Ocean and Crushed Grape, I placed them in rainbow order working outwards from the centre of the card.

I then used Altenew's Bold alpha dies to cut the word pride 3 times, once in white and wice in black. I then layered them up using a wet adhesive this give a nice thick die cut to place on my card.

I hope you've liked todays post, I will be back with more soon.

Dance like nobody's watching with Tonic studios

Good Morning crafty friends, today I am sharing a mixed media card I created using lots of Tonic and Nuvo goodies.

I was totally inspired by the awesome Jen Kray's post on the Tonic Global Blog and couldn't wait to get messy and make some art.

So how did I create this little beauty I hear you cry, let me walk you through the steps below.

I started with a piece of watercolour card measuring 4.52 by 6.5" and added some Clear water Aquaflow and spritzed with water. I then sprinkled some rock salt on top and gave a spritzed of the Pecan Peach mica mist and set it aside to dry.

I cut the butterfly and body from the Wings and things die set (listed below), these were coloured with Nuvo embellishment mousses in Aquamarine, Chai Latte and Coral Calypso.

I cut the word Dance from some greyboard using the Eat,Sleep, Repeat media die set and coloured with the mousses mentioned above.

Once the background was dry, I brushed off the salt (which I will keep for future use), I then rubbed some of the Coral Calypso and Aquamarine mousse around the edges to frame the background panel.

I adhered the butterfly and sentiment to the card using some wet glue. I printed the second part of my sentiment using a Dymo Label maker.

To finish the card off I added some Nuvo drops in Saddle bag (vintage) and Caribbean blue (gloss)

Products used

Creating depth in your project with Vellum

Today I am showing you how to create depth and added interest in your cards using vellum.

I started by creating a background, I did this using water colour over a clear embossed background. Once dry I covered the image with some printer paper and dry ironed it to remove the embossing powder as I wanted a smooth mat finish.  Now I wasn't overly happy with how vivid the colours were but hey Vellum to the rescue!

Next I wrapped the card in Ivory Vellum using extra strong tape to secure from the behind. I love how you see a muted image and instantly want to look deeper into the image.

Using some off cuts from my background I die cut the Happy sentiment and stamped birthday onto a strip of white card, I attached the die cut using glossy accents and the strip with strong double sided tape.

With the remainder of the off cuts I fussy cut some of the flowers and leaves and stuck these to the right hand side of the card. I love the colours and feel of this card.

Next I mounted the panel onto a 5x7" white card blank and added some Nuvo Jewel drops, They are transparent so work well to pick up on the colours in your project,

I am so happy with the soft muted look of this project, the detail in the flowers is amazing and just makes me want to smile.

  Here's a list of products I used along with all the links you need to fins them;

I hope you have enjoyed today's Tutorial
