Altenew July 2022 Summer Love Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Welcome to the July 2022 Summer Love Collection release Blog Hop and Giveaway. You should have arrived here from Angela Brennan , if not you can go back to the start of the hop at any time by visiting the Altenew Card Blog or alternatively you can use the list of hop participants at the end of this post to navigate.

This release has so may wonderful 3D embossing folders and stencils, there's geometric patterns, florals, a butterfly and even a ornate motif. There really is something for everyone.

One of the things I hear most is people asking for inspiration on backgrounds and/or more ideas for embossing folders, hopefully this post will give you lots of ideas, as I've created 8 projects!

First up is the new Tiled Chevrons 3D Embossing Folder. This is a really simple example of how to use an embossing folder to create a ancor point for your sentiment. I embossed a piece of green card and trimmed it down before adhering it to the left hand side of my card. It was the perfect place to add a sentiment whilst keeping the design clean and simple.

Next up is the Sunshine Blossoms 3D Embossing Folder and Playful Circles 3D Embossing Folder. Here I've used one embossing folder to create a simple white embossed background, wile using the other to create a fussy cut focal image. I used the Courageous You Simple Coloring Stencil to add some color to the embossed floral piece.

Here I have used the Mariposa 3D embossing Folder and Mariposa Simple Coloring Stencil to create a full background that was bold enough to allow me to finish with just a sentiment.

Next we have the Jungle Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. I embossed a piece of card which I ink blended with a green Ombre pattern. I then used a fine line marker to draw in the debossed areas. It totally changes how the card looks and is so easy to do.

Next I used the Hosta 3D Embossing Folder and Hosta Simple Coloring Stencil. I chose a color palette of Green, Blue and Orange, this is a split complementary scheme. I then added a spritz of iridescent shimmer spray which softened the colors and made them feel a little more modern.

I love a geometric pattern and the Geo Triangles 3D Embossing Folder and Geo Triangles Simple Coloring Stencil are such a fun set, I chose to go really bold with the color scheme and add in a retro sentiment. If you ever ink a background like this and then feel unhappy with how crisp the lines are, I recommend spritzing with water, this softens everything and makes it less obvious.

I adore the Flower Vines 3D Embossing Folder and Flower Vines Simple Coloring Stencil. It creates such crisp design, with such a deep emboss. I used mini blending brushes to add ink trough the stencil, this allows me to me more precise with where the shadows and highlights are.

If you don't have mini blending brushes, have a look at what other items you have that could work, a good example is a cotton swab, they are perfect for getting into little areas and so affordable.

Last up is one of my favourite embossing folders, the Fantasy Emblem 3D Embossing Folder. I chose to go with a ink blended backgroung and lots of inky splatters. This gives a really impactful modern feel.

There we have it, 8 cards using this new release. I hope you were inspired.
