Altenew Build-A-Flower: Cora Louise Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello everyone, let me start by wishing you all a very happy new year, 2020 threw us all a curve ball so here's to a happier and healthy new year. You should have arrived here from Teresa Litchfield blog, if not you can go back to the start of the blog hop at any time by visiting the Altenew card blog where the lovely Lydia has crated a stunning project.

Today's Build a flower release is the Cora Louise Peony, you can purchase the set as a one off purchase via this link BAF Cora Louise Peony, or you can subscribe to the monthly plan where you will receive a new BAF set each month. I have created 3 cards for the hop, each very different from the last, lets take a look.

In this first card I wanted to show that you can use the stamp set without the matching die and still create impact. Not only did I omit the die but I also only stamped one of the layer. I love the effect this gives.

I stamped the floral image in both of the corners, then using Altenew's Masking sheets I masked the flowers, I then stamped the leaves and masked these. This protected all the stamped images while I ink blended the background. I used the same pink ink that I used for the detailed layer of the flower. I also added some pink and gold splatters. The sentiment is white heat embossed onto a piece of card I coloured with pink ink to coordinate with the background, it's actually the same colour I just ink blended with a heavier hand.

This second card really allows the flower and leave to pack a punch, the black background offers such a contrast that your eye is automatically draw to the flower.

The black background is embossed with the Geo steps embossing folder, I apologise that it's not easy to see in the photo, We have been having really dark days here and trying to get a good photo is hard (something I'm working on improving in 2021) I added a few splatters using Altenew's metallic watercolor paints.

My final card uses only the outline stamps for the flower and leaves. Hopefully seeing 3 ways to use this set will inspire you to look at your stamps differently and stretch them to create different looks.

I heat embossed the images using Rose Gold embossing powder onto vellum, my tip here is to make sure that your heat tool is fully heated before taking it to the vellum so that you minimise buckling. I die cut the images and added them to a panel which I embossed using the Angled Mosaic embossing folder. I ink blended the embossed panel to inject some color into the design. Adding a few gold inky splatters and sequins to pick up on the heat embossing pulled the whole look together.

  15. Hi, Terri - Three different versions here are substantially divergent. One is so light and delicate - almost ethereal. The next uses a stark contrast between black and vibrant colors and a positive sentiment. The last has a colorful but not dark background and gold embossing that lends a touch of sophistication. All fabulous and your talent shows.
May 2021 be a terrific year for you!
