Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Poppy Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Today we are celebrating the release of the Craft A Flower Poppy, you should have arrived here from Nenette S. Madero blog, if not don't worry you can go back to the start of the hop by visiting the Altenew Card Blog.

Altenew's Craft a Flower is monthly subscription plan, you can sign up here Craft a flower subscription planWhen signed up, you are guaranteed a spot in our monthly Craft-A-Flower releases and will receive a set each month - at a specially discounted price! ($35.99 →$29.99)

For my first card  I cut the Craft a Flower Poppy from Neenah solar white card stock, I then used Artist markers to colour the flower, leaves and stem. The great thing about Altenew's artist markers is that they come in the same colour families as Altenew's inks, four perfectly tonal inks designed for colour layering.

My background is a die cut using the ornate cover die, I love cutting it in white and adding it to a white card base, it adds interest and texture which complements the focal image without being overpowering.  I added a cute little sentiment from the Signature word dies.

My next card has a more organic feel, I used Altenew's 36 Pan watercolor set to color the Poppy and leaves. The water colors again come in families of colors so that you can add tones and shading to your images.

I used the colors from the flowers and leaves to add inky splatters to my ivory background.  This was added to a Kraft card base. The addition of twine and a sentiment stamped in brown ink finishes the card and completes the natural earthy feel.

I love Altenew's Craft a flower and 3D floral dies, they allow you to create so many different looks on your projects, don't get me wrong I am a stamper but sometimes it's nice to have another choice.

  19. Very pretty cards. So fun to see how different the flowers look depending on the arrangement and whether they are standing tall or just blooms. Both are great. And yes, your backgrounds are beautiful- one element I always struggle with.
