Paperbabe Stamps challenge #83 Design team project

Good morning everyone, today we have a new challenge over at Paperbabe Stamp
This time round it's a sketch challenge

You can use the sketch any way you like, flip it, rotate it or keep it as it is. Let your imagination run wild.

I used the sketch to create a Christmas card. I know it's only September but it's never to early to start thinking about all those cards that need making.

I thought it would be fun to use some trees and a little deer to represent the image in the corner of the sketch.

Now it's over to you, To join in with the challenge pop over to the blog and link up your project. You'll find all the information you need, I can't wait to see what you create.

Pop Art meets Altenew

Today I am sharing a card I created after watching one of Lydia Evans video tutorials she created for Altenew. You can see the post here, Lydia using a halftone stamp to create Pop art card to die cut from. As soon as I saw the video I knew I had to give it a go and put my spin on it, so here goes......

Using the Halftone Circles Stamp set I stamped several circles in all the shades of  the Tea Party mini inks, these will be for the flowers layers. I then stamped the leaf layers using the Green Meadows mini inks.

I then set about cutting all the layers for the flowers and leaves using the Peony Dreams 3D dies. Once everything was cur and release from the dies I stacked and glued them together.  Toadd some definition to the layers and add striking detail I used a black fineliner pen to outline the layers. I also ran a black alcohol marker around the edge of the flowers and leaves.

I wanted a background for the flowers to sit against but didn't want anything to fussy or detailed. This is where the Watercolor stripes cover die came into play. I cut it from white cardstock and adhered it to a black card base. The black and white is the perfect backdrop for the pop art style flowers and leaves. I adhered everything using glossy accents, it's my go to wet adhesive.

The last thing to do was to add a sentiment, I chose the "stay awesome my friend" from the
Leaf Canopy stamp set. I heat embossed it on to black card using Altenew's Clear embossing ink and Pure white crisp embossing powder.

All the items used can be purchased from the Altenew store

Altenew watercolours - Creating a grungy card

Good morning Crafty friends, today's post is all about Altenew's watercolor 36 pan set, I recently purchased them along with a few other Altenew products and thought I'd jump straight in and see what I could do with them.

I started by creating swatches to show the colours vibrancy and how well they flow, let me tell you I am blown away by how bright and rich in pigment these paints are, I'll be sharing more about my swatches and how I store them in a separate post.

So this is the first card I've made using the watercolours and as you can see it's very different from my usual CAS cards.

I started by adding paint in concentric circles using the largest of brushes from the Watercolor brush bundle to add some colour to the cardstock, I made sure it was very wet so that when I added some plastic wrap I could move it around to help create texture.

After about an hour of drying time I peeled back the plastic wrap and this is how it looked, cool hey. It reminds me of the tie-dye we did at school many years ago.

I wanted to add some depth and pattern to the painted panel so I decided to use the Leaf burst stencil with some of the watercolour paint and a make up sponge, I dabbed the paint through the stencil building the colour as I went. After a quick blast with a heat gun I used a fine liner through the stencil to outline the pattern.

My sentiment is 5 stacked die cuts glued together to create a faux chipboard, I used the Bold alpha dies for this.  Lastly I added some Nuvo drops in blue and white to embellish the card.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and think I may try this technique again with softer shades.

Thanks for stopping by today, I'd love it if you left me a comment with a technique you'd like me to try, bye for now x
