Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #25:

Good Morning lovely crafty folks

I wanted to share with you a piece of artwork I have created for the Paperbabe stamps challenge

I created my mixed media piece using the Art Quote stamp, Female face stamp setmini profile face stamp set to add stars and the Herringbone stencil to add the feature background pattern.  I applied acrylic paint over a masking tape covered canvas to give texture.

I will be sharing how to make the background next week so that you can try it too.

If you pop over to the Paperbabe Blog you can enter the challenge yourself and be in with a chance of winning a prize.

It's all about Man Made

Good morning lovely crafty friends

Yesterday my girl kicked me out to the lounge so they could play video games with a friends so I had half an hour to create some cards whilst indulging in Adele's new album (it's amazing)

I decided to work with Craftwork cards Man Made kit and these are my results;

This is a little C5 vintage looking card suitable for an older man, maybe my Dad......

This card uses the brick backing paper, a sentiment and a few stars, with a little inking around the edge, quick and easy for those times when you're in a squeeze

This card utilizes the scrap/left over from the above card and some die cut letters from the kit, I added some card Candi and a little sentiment

Again the brick paper in this card was from the leftover form the other 2 cards, that is how far you can stretch 1 sheet of 8x8 paper :)

A card for the DIY loving man in your life, again quick and easy

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you like my makes as much as I do, I'll be back later in the week with more crafty makes Tx

Paperbabe stamps Challenge 24 - Anything goes

Good morning crafty people,

Today I'm sharing with you a piece of art I created for the most recent Paperbabe stamps challenge #24. The theme this time is anything goes, so let your imagination run wild and get creative. You could be in with a chance to win a voucher to spend on Paperbabe goodies.

I created my piece of art using; using liquid chalk for the background, the head and torso mixed media template, the pony and fringe template, the folk fabrique stamp set to add falling petals , the Herringbone stencil was used with texture paste to add dimension  and I added some facial features using the profile face mini stamp set.

For all the detaials pop over to Paperbabe Stamp's blog, and why not have a look at the goodies on Paperbabe Stamps shop that you could buy if you are the lucky winner.

Here are the links to the rest of the Design teams blogs where you will find many more inspiring projects created with the new releases.

Tutorial 12 - Telephone seat upcycle and upholstery

I'm rather partial to a car boot sale and love a project as you will know by now, so when I saw this old tired looking telephone seat I couldn't resist.

I'm not a professional by any mean but I am very happy with how my DIY limited skills revived this once loved piece of furniture back to life.

As you can see it looked rather dull

The upholstery was an old taperstry piece which was starting to disintegrate in places

The wood was scratched and chipped too

After removing the upholstry I discovered a basic seat with no cushioning at all, I dont think any bottom would sit comfortably on there

My first step was to cut and apply some upholstery foam, I wanted added comfort and a plush look so went for a double layer

Next I used some cotton fabric attached with spray adhesive to the end of the foam

I applied pressure and pulled the fabric taught to give a rounded edge

This was repeated on all four sides, I think the rounded edges add more of a luxury look and feel

I then started to measure some wadding

I flipped the seat pad over and  cut enough to allow me to attach it to the frame

I stapled each edge using an electric stapler

I cut any excess away to leave a neat finish

It's starting to look better already

I then added a layer of the cotton material as my finished fabric layer is woven and I didn't want to see any of the wadding beneath

I applied my chosen fabric and here is a sneak peak at how it looks, the wood is still tired and dull so that needs addressing next

I decided to go with a white chalk paint, after a couple of layers and a coat of wax and buffing the wood looked so smooth

I decided that the all white look was to stark so I added a piece of patterned paper with Modge podge and sealed it one dry.  I also added a simple draw pull in a dark brown metal rather than the 2 finger holes that where there before, opps I forgot to mention that I filled the holes with a light weight filler

Here it is in all it's glory.

A stunning piece of furniture which sadly I didn't have room for in my own house. I did however gift it to my sister as a 30th birthday present.

I hope you like it as much as I do, until next time take care Tx
