Altenew - first makes.

I have wanted to have a play with my Altenew stamps, inks and dies for a while now but you know how it is life gets in the way, but today I found a couple of hours today to have a little play.

Here's what I was able to create

This first card was made using the Vintage Rose stamp set and the following ink cubes from Altenew Summer Afternoon and Green fields.

I added a sentiment from Craftwork cards Label tape sentiment stamps, mounted on to some vellum and a few black sequins.

This card was made using the Vinatgae flower stamp set and the Vintage rose stamp set. I used the followig ink cube; Green fields, shades of  Lavender and four scoops.

I added a spray of ink dots by mixing a little ink and water on an acrylic block and using a very fine paint brush to flick the ink.

This card also used the Vintage flowers stamp set but this time I used Red Cosmos ink cubes, four scoops and Green fields.

The sentiments are from Paperbabe stamps Birthday wishes stamp set. This card also uses the technique mentioned above.

This card combines both the Vintage flowers and Vintage rose stamp sets. I used the Cool Summer Nights, Four Scoops and Green Fields ink cubes.

I die cut an oval apperture and place a die cut bird inside, the flowers were stamped and then die cut using the coordinating vintage Rose die set, the sentiment is from the Vinatge Rose set.

This was the first time I've actually used the stamps to create cards, I have tested my layering skills and tried ink combinations, I'm fairly happy with my stamping and with a bit of practice I think I will improve.

I'll be back soon with more crafty makes T x

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge - Design team project

Yay it's friday, almost time for some R&R but first lets talk craft.

We have a new challenge live on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today.

The theme
"Picture inspiration"

If you'd like to join in all you need to do is pop over to the blog and use the linkup to add your project,
Paperbabe Stamps Challenges are open to everyone...
As usual you are welcome to combine with other challenges.

Here's my Design team project

I created my card by using stamps from the Folk Fabrique and Birthday Wishes stamp sets. I stamped them on to some linen fabric with Versafine ink, I then heat set it with my iron.

Next I used some cosmic shimmer luster fabric paint to create a background, I water the paint down and apply it to the fabric which I spritz with water first. The paint then bleeds creating a softer look, while wet I then sprinkle with course salt and leave to dry. As you can see the salt moves the paint around and leaves a blotchy effect.

Once dry I use the paint in it's raw state to add color to the Peacock, I added the fabric o the card using Red liner tape. I hand drew a sketchy border on the card and added some Aurora Borealis gems.

I hope you'll have a go at entering the challenge and look forward to seeing your creations.

Dragonfly Dreams

Today I am sharing a beautiful project inspired by Cathie Shuttleworth, I recently saw her on Hochanda and was captivated by her work and wanted to try some thing similar.

I've used fabric paints, thread and beads to add dimention

I'm not a sewist but I found this really easy and fun to create

I plan on doing a tutorial on how to create this effect soon and may even do a video.

Until next time, take care x

Paperbabe Stamps June release - Portrait MDF blanks

Wow do we have some amazing items being released this month, you are in for a real treat.

Hopefully you saw the sneak peaks for the release over on the Paperbabe stamp blog yesterday, if not pop by now and have a catch up.

I'm going to share with you my Design team sample which I created using the Wavy central parting MDF blank.

I created my beautiful girl using acrylic paint for the hair, Decopatch paper for the top and soft pastels for the face.

I added the facial features using the female face mini stamp set

I added glamour dust to the heart in her hair and gave her a little necklace which I made with black ribbon, a jump ring and a bead.

The great thing about the MDF pieces are that they can be free standing or wall hung.

I hope you will stop by my team mates blogs to view more samples of how the MDF pieces can be decorated.

Here's links to their blogs

Which glue should I use on my craft project - Craft 101 Glue and Adhesive

Hello crafters, welcome to the second installment of craft 101, this week I am focusing on Glue and Adhesive.

Those of you who have entered a craft store will know only to well that there are a plethora of items available to help you stick your projects together, from liquid glue to tape runners but where do you start? Right here of course.

Let me take you by the hand and walk you through my adhesive choices......(you might want to grab a cuppa and make sure you're sitting comfortably, we've got a lot to get through)

PVA is a white liquid glue, it's a craft basic. Most people will have used it as sometime in their life. The great thing about PVA is that is dries clear and is easy to clean up. It's also safe for the little crafters in your life too.

Hi Tack Glue

Hi Tack glue is something I can't live without. It's so versatile and I use it on almost every project I create. It grabs quickly and holds a very strong bond. I use it add embellishments, mat and layer and for home decor projects.

Glue Gun

The glue gun is a super tool to have in your craft box. A super fast hold when you need it and you can get different coloured glue sticks and glittery ones too. A word of caution, it's HOT and hurts when you burn yourself. I use mine for adding bows and flowers to projects.

Quickie Glue pen

The quickie glue pen gets a mention as it's so handy for the delicate intricate areas of your projects and also applying glitter to tiny areas.

Double sided tape

A must have for any crafter, perfect for matting and layering. It's not as quick as the tape runner but I find it really good and I have a little trick with you.

Red liner tape

Super super strong, perfect for thicker materials and acetate. You can also use it to add lines of glitter to your projects.

Foam tape and pads

Used to add height and dimension to your projects. Available in a number of size and thickness', you can even get black and clear versions too. Many people use them for decoupage.

Double sided adhesive sheets

(Not much of a picture, I know)

These are amazing, you can use them with you cutting dies and punches, how about die cutting a heart from the sheet and sprinkling with glitter or adding foil or gilding flakes. You can cut a piece of paper or card to the size of your adhesive sheet, remove one of the pieces of backing and stick together, then die cut your really intricate dies, peel off the other backing sheet and apply to your project, no faffing with glue and cocktail sticks.....You can get several different sizes and brands too.

Mod Podge

This glue brand has a variety of products for different types of craft. I have their decoupage glue which I use for applying decopatch papers to projects.

Tape runner/snail

Like double sided tape but comes in a little hand held tool which you run over the area to be stuck and it applies the adhesive, no having to remove the backing from double sided tape! I don't use them as much as I used to as I tend to use a heavier weight card and paper and found that it wasn't always as strong as I needed.

Silicone glue

Silicone glue provides height and a strong hold. It takes a good few hours to dry and some people complain that the smell is off putting. I use it when I decoupage.

Spray adhesive

A super little invention, perfect for all those doily like die cuts, or for spraying on to a 3D project and then adding glitter

Fabric Glue

I use napkin podge from Plaid, it works in the same way as mod podge and PVA, quick and clean, just the way I like it. Fantastic for adding applique to sewing projects.

Glue Dots

They come in lots of sizes and also in sheets, you can use them to attach your embellishments to projects. The sheets of sticky dots are fantastic for tricky/intricate die cuts, you peel back the top protective layer place your die cut on top, give it a little pres and peel off, then it's ready to apply to your cards.

Glitter Glue

OK, so glitter glue isn't used to adhere things but is used as an embellishment, it does however contain glue which is a carrier for the glitter, allowing you to control the application. I love stickles as they have a high glitter content and a fine point tip.

As you can see there is a glue/adhesive for every job and if you want your projects to stand all the handling they are sure to get from amazed friends and family then you need to use the right product.

There are many brands and types available in the shops and online but these are my personal choices, I'm not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned/featured.

Paperbabe Stamps challenge 35

Good morning crafty friends,

It's been so hot and sticky here in Bristol for a few days now, I don't like it when it's like this so I stay inside and craft. That leads me into telling you about  a new challenge live on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today.

The theme
"Anything Goes"

If you'd like to join in all you need to do is pop over to the blog and use the linkup to add your project,
Paperbabe Stamps Challenges are open to everyone...
As usual you are welcome to combine with other challenges.

Here's my Design team project

I created this card using a 5x7" card blank, I added some purple glitter tape to the left hand side and then die cut a circle from white card. I used Paperbabe stamps Birthday wishes stamp set to add the sentiments and bubbles. I then distress the edge of the die cut circle and added black glitter glue. This was mounted on foam tape and added to the card. I then placed a black die cut tuck in behind the circle and added some sequins.  The bubbles have had glossy ascents added to them.

Another pretty card to add to my stash, but not for long as I know just who to send this one too.

Thank you for stopping by.

Warren and Little Lola

It's been one of those weeks where I have several projects on the go that all need time to dry, so you leave that one and move on to another, then back to first and so on and so forth, I feel like a headless chicken going back and forth from desk to desk but I do have some pretty cards to share with you as a result.

All of the cards below have been made with the Warren and Little Lola pads from Craftwork Cards, there are two pads, one is a candi pad and the other a topper pad.

I have accented my cards with papers from other Craftwork cards kits, some have twine/ribbon, candi, gems or flowers, I have also used glossy accents and stickles glitter glue in places. On a few of the cards I have added a tuck in embellishment using Tattered lace dies.

I hope you've enjoyed viewing today's post, please take a moment and leave me a comment Tx
