Welcome to Altenew's Fevruary 2020 release, You should have arrived here from the wonderful Virginia Lu's blog, if not dont panic you can go back to the start of the hop here https://altenewblog.com/February-2020-Release-Blog-Hop-2
I have made 9 cards for the hop, yes you heard me right 9! We'll take a brief look through them and then over the next few days I'll be sharing blog posts with more inforamtion about the cards and techniques used to create them.
My first card was created using the Bursting Dahlia Stencil and some Deep Iris crisp ink. I added some Enchanted gold ink through the stencil to the centre of the flowers and into the white space. I added a couple of frames using the Fine Frames Diamonds Die Set, which I cut in gold glitter card and placed them onto vellum. I finished the card using the Fancy For You Die ct form some card which I ink blended the Deep Iris ink onto.
For my next card I watercoloured a piece of card using Lagoon ink. I then used the Dotted Starburst Debossing Cover Die to add pattern to the nackground. I cut my sentiment using the Bold Greetings Die Set and added one of the floral images from the Crafty Talk Decal set to some white card and fussy cut it.
I love a geometric pattern and the Geometric Roulette Stencil, really is awesome. I ink blended shaed of orange using the Golden Sunset inks. The stencil comes with a middle section which can be used to keep the centre clean or used alone to create patterns. I used it to mask the centre of the Roulette pattern, giving me the perfect space to add a sentiment. I used the Bold Greetings Die Set which I cut from both black and orange card, I opted for a simple drop shadow to keep the card impactful.
The Hand-Drawn Tile Stencil is sobeautiful, I wanted to show how you can used just a section of the stencil to create impact. I inked it using Lagoon crisp ink diagonally across the bottom section of my card. I then added a strip of the Golden edge washi tape where the pattern meets the white area of card. I then cut the Fancy For You Die from black card 4 times and stacked them together for a faux chipboard effect.
This card is one of my favirote that I've made for this release. I started by adding some embossing paste through the Hand-Drawn Tile Stencil onto my card base. Once dry I put the clean stencil back over the top and lightly blended some Pink Diamond ink, I didnt add ink to brush as there was still some on it and I wanted a muted look. I then cut the Fancy For You Die from Gold glitter card, vellum and a piece of card I inked with my pink diamond brush. I stacked them together with a slight drop shadow.
The Open Bloom 3D Die Set creates a stunning floral bloom. I inked several pieces of card using Pink Diamond, Pinkilicous, Rubelite, Razzleberry, Limeade and Lime crisp inks. I then cut the layers of the flower and leaves and adhered them together. I used the Dotted Starburst Debossing Cover Die as my background, it adds the perfect level of detail without detracting from the flower. I added a sentiment using the Bold Greetings Die Set cut from black card.
My next card uses the Tranquil Wings Stencil. I covered my card with butterflies, making sure to have one full butterfly in the centre of my card. I used Sunray, Chamolmile and snapdragon. I added a sentiment cut from the Bold Greetings Die Set, I love the strong text against the butterfly.
Using the Wild Leopard Stencil I decided a little stencil shift would make a cool background. I inked using Pink Diamond and then shifted the stencil up and to the left slightly and added Jet black ink. This give the Leopard spots a cool drop shadow and makes them look more dimentional. I cut the sentiment from the Bold Greetings Die Set using black card. I then triple heat embossed in to give a glossy effect. I added a pink drop shadow and placed it on to vellum to help the sentiment stand out.
My final card uses the Open Bloom 3D Die Set, this time coloured using Artist markers. I added some background interest using the Geometric Roulette Stencil and Warm Sunshine spray ink. I thought the Fancy For You Die finshed the look perfectly.
All of the items from todays release that I used in tmy projects can be found in the New products section.
