Altenew July 2019 Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Welcome crafty friends, I am very excited and honoured to be part of Altenew's July Stencil release blog hop. You should have arrived here from Svitlana Shayevich's blog, if you've got lost along the way don't panic, you can head back to the beginning at the Altenew card blog or see the full list of hop participants below.

Today's release sees 9 new stencils added to Altenew's awesome range, you can check them out here on the Stencil release product page.

I have created a card with each stencil (meaning this is going to be a photo heavy post, so why not grab a cuppa, get comfy and settle in.)

Beach Towel Stripes Stencil

The Beach Towel Stripes stencil is so versatile, I wanted create something a little different from my usual style so decided on a modern look using Silver stone and Honey Drizzle crisp ink. I used a sentiment from the Crafty Life stamp set to add a heat embossed sentiment onto black card with Pure White Embossing powder and Embossing Ink.

Playing with angles adds a really contemporary feel to the card and draws me away from my safe crafting style. Before adding the sentiment from the Envelope liner die set I used a scoring tool to score all of the lines where ink colours met, this adds a really cool effect (those white diagonal lines are embossed)

Bubble Wrap Stencil

For my next card I chose to use the Bubble Wrap stencil to stamp through. I used the Pinstripe stamp set and Honey Drizzle Ink to give me a stripey spotty background. Stamping through stencils is a really fun way to stretch your stash, and as a frugal crafter things need to have multiple uses to earn a place in my craft room.

I added the Mega Ampersand die cut and two words from the Script words die set, I coloured these prior to cutting using the Honey Drizzle ink on Solar crest card. I also coloured the base card in the same way.

Buffalo Plaid Stencil

When I initially saw the Buffalo Plaid Builder stencil I was thinking Christmas backgrounds but then thought how about a more girly colour choice. I settled for Sweet Leaf and Pinkalicious ink (make sure to clean the stencil between each colour, a quick rinse under the tap/faucet and then dry with kitchen paper)

I added the Mega hello die cut in Black to add a really bold kick to the card.

Color bloc Hearts stencil

I love a two step stencil and the Color Block Hearts stencil is an amazing addition to my growing collection. For this card I stencilled in Teal Cave ink and allowed this to dry thoroughly.  I then used Altenew's Embossing ink and a finger dauber to add the second layer of ink, you need to flip the stencil and line it up  first but it's so simple to do.  Once I had a good coverage of embossing ink I then removed the stencil and added Rose Gold embossing powder.

I inked a piece of card using the Teal Cave ink and then die cut my sentiment using the Fine Alphabet dies, I also cut the same letter 3 times in white to stack together with the coloured ones on top, this gives my sentiment impact, kind of a faux chipboard. I added a piece of the stencilled background the the lower half of my card and then placed a strip of Golden edge washi. The sentiment was added to a white rectangle mat and adhered using foam tape.

On the plus side stencil

On The Plus Side stencil really got my scratching my head and thinking about how I'd use it in my card making and then I had a light bulb moment and thought about dry embossing. I added the stencil to a piece of Solar crest card and ran it through my die cutting machine with an embossing mat. If you don't have an embossing mat you can use craft foam, place the stencil and card face down and the foam on top and then add your plates. The foam pushes the card into the voids in the stencil and give an embossed impression.

I added a gold Mid Century Frame and flowers from the Garden Picks 3D dies, these were coloured using Altenews Artist Markers set A and C, my sentiment is from the Sentiment Strips stamp set and Rose gold embossing power.

Wonderful Wreath Stencil

Wonderful Wreath is an absolutely stunning stencil and could be used in so many ways. Here I stencilled twice, once in Minty Mint and then in Limestone ink to create a layered wreath. The stencil has little berries that you can stencil onto the wreath but I used these and a pencil to mark the placement for some Pale Gold Nuvo drops which give height the the design.

I added a heat embossed sentiment using the One day at a time stamp set and Rose gold embossing powder. The stencilled panel was then added to some vellum and then onto a card using foam tape between each layer.

Doily Frame Stencil

The Doily Frame stencil comes with the inner section included in the pack, this allow you to mask the inner area when stencilling giving you a ring of detail just like in my card. I used Sweet Leaf ink and a brush to blend the ink through the stencil.

I added a Vintage Tea cup and saucer using both the Vintage tea cup stamp and die set. I coloured them using Morning Frost and Frosty Pink Artist Markers. I stamped all of the Embossed elements using Embossing ink and then heat embossed with Rose gold embossing powder. The splatters are also embossing powder, did you know that you can flick water and cover it with embossing powder? Yes embossing powder will stick to anything wet.......

Diamond Builder stencil

Geometric patterns are so much fun, the Diamond Builder stencil is no exception. It can be inked in may ways to create awesome patterns. I inked in four colours; Volcano Lake, Purple Wine, Lagoon and Puffy Heart.

Milky way stencil

Last up is a card created using the Milky Way stencil. This stencil can be used as a two step layer stencil or both sections can be used separately. I started by inking the larger stars using Galactic Stream ink, I used a heat tool to make sure it was totally dry before the next step.

I lined up the smaller stars to overlay the inked stars and added some embossing ink with a finger dauber. I sprinkled Rose Gold Embossing powder and hear set. Totally gorgeous stars!!! The sentiment is from To the moon stamp set and was also heat embossed in Rose Gold. I think they are a perfect match.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, your next hop stop is the amazing Isha Gupta.
