Craftworks cards christmas

Colour with Candi Christmas

I've been busy playing with the colour with Candi Christmas pad from Craftwork cards, I have to say at first I wasn't sure I'd like it as my colouring skills aren't that good but after completing my first card I was hooked.

For this card I used a dark grey promarker and some black glitter glue for the foliage and some gold candi to set it off. I added a foiled topper which I inked with a black ink pad.

For this card I used a range of promakers and glitter glue, along with a foiled topper.

I think this is one of my favorite cards, The card blank is from the christmas special on C&C, the sentiment is from the match box pop up kit and I added a organza bow and some iridescent glitter glue.

This card uses a bow form the chalkboard kit, a stamp from the christmas stamps and a plain white card.

I love the combination of icey blue and dark grey along with a chalkboard topper.

The next 2 cards use a light grey and lilac combination, again with a chalkboard topper

Finally this card uses a dove from the match box pop up kit along with a good helping of clear glitter glue.

I hope this gives you some inspiration when making your christmas cards. T x

Sleeps till Christmas Advent - Tutorial 7

 Hi Everyone

Well I seem to be in the Christmas crafting mood recently and there's no stopping me, I love Christmas anyway but after buying the festive chalkboard kit form Craftwork cards I've gone a bit Christmas crazy.

I wanted to make a advent type of thing but wanted something that could be used year after year so came up with a desktop advent, here's how I made it......(there are a couple of pictures missing but thankfully they weren't the important ones)

I wanted this to be a project that stood the test of time so decided it should be made from wood but if you wanted to you could make one from another material like polystyrene or sturdy card.

I cut 2 wooden blocks measuring 3.5cm and then sprayed them gold, originally I was going to cover them with patterned papers but my numbers didn't stand out enough so gold it is

I then cut a block of wood measuring 10x10x4cm, I made a groove in the back for the back board to stand in and then gouged out a slope for the wooden blocks to sit in, this was done with a hammer and chisel, then I sanded them all over.
I also cut a piece of hardboard to 10x12cm and a small piece of wood to use as a wedge

Next was the bit that hurt my brain the most, working out what numbers needed to go on each cube, now I am sure there is something on the internet that would have given me the answer but I got my pen and paper out and worked out that 1 block should have;  0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7  and the other should have 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8

I used some black glitter number stickers available from the range

I added these to the blocks

Next I tried everything in place before decorating

I wanted to use the Festive chalkboard papers form Craftwrk Cards, the sign post paper was my choice

I painted the back board with black paint and  cut it out the signs and glued it to the board when dry, for added protection I used a matt varnish as a top coat.

I also painted the base in black too

I thought the black base was far to bare and wanted it to match in with the rest of the project so cut some embelishments from scraps of the same paper pad.

gluee dthem on with a strong glue and then used a white pen to add little white dots to resemble snow

I decided that the number blocks need to be edged in black promarker to make them pop a bit more

I know not everyone will be comfortable with a saw or chisel when making this project so I would love to see you own take on it.

I still have a few more advent projects that I am working on so watch this space  Tx

Tag box......... tutorial 6

Thank you Tag Box

So it's that time of year where my girls want thank you gifts for ALL the teaching staff at school, each year I try to be a bit more savvy and save money, I decided that I would raid my crafty stash and see what I could put together.

I found some lovely thank you tags in my Craftwork cards goodies that I thought I could use as my starting block.

I used the tag as a template and cut another from a blank piece of white card and then stamped it in a pale pink and light grey using a flourish stamp

The idea is that the 2 tags get stuck on to a mini box that will hold a gift.

I had a mini box to use but if you don't then you can make one by using my template below

I folded and glued the box with a strong glue, double sided tape wont hold!!!

I got my daughter to write her message on the rear tag before attaching them to the box

I then attached the first tag again using strong glue

Make sure the box is at the bottom of the tag so that it sits level when stood up! I then glued the rear tag on making sure both tags sat evenly.

Next I added a coordinating piece of ribbon to tie the tags together

Now it's ready for some choccy treats

Just another gazillion to make.......

I hope you'll give a try as it's super easy and effective, If you don't have a ready made box to use you will need a piece of card measuring 19x11cm

Lay your card landscape way and score at 6, 9, 15 and 18cm, then rotate 90 degrees clockwise and score at 1 and 4cm. You will need to cut and fold so that you are left with the shape below.

If you have any problems, leave me a message or pop over to my facebook page www.facebook.com/wherethecraftis  and I will give you a hand Tx

Christmas has come early..................

I know it's on July but as a crafter Christmas has to start early, all the cards, presents and decorations take time and I like to be prepared.

I have been having a play with Craftwork cards latest kit; Festive chalkboard and boy is it a good one.  The mix of chalkboard, tartan and Icey blue really works. I have made 5 cards so far but am busy beavering away on some home decor items for christmas.

My first card was made with one of the tags from the 2 tag pads available, a sheet of the tartan paper, a green card, sentiment, die cut bow and some candi.......it all came in the kit, all I added was glue and some glossy accents on the candi.

Next up, I used a few of the die cuts that come in the kit along with a piece of paper left from one of the other cards, I used a versa mark pen to highlight the snow and added a forsty white embossing powder and heat set, also glossy accents on the tree and candi.

A very simple tag, banner of paper, candi and die cut sentiment, I do love a quick clean card

This card is similar to the one above just a slightly different layout

For the last card I cut out the sign post from one of the sheets added a frosty white embossing powder to the snow, stuck it to a iced blue snow flake card and added a ribbon and sentiment tag.

I have to say over the last 6 months I have become a craftwork cards addict, I know I can rely on their products as the items are of such good quality and all coordinate so well, so on those days where my inspiration is lacking I know the kits will help guide me.

There will be lots more Christmas goodies to show you soon Tx

Let me catch my breath

Let me just catch my breath,

As if this heat wasn't bad enough; I'm rushing around like a headless chicken trying to get things done.

It's a very busy week in my crafty world, I have been making some custom packaging for some little gifts that I am sending to a very special lady...........

I am also trying to put together some raffle prizes for St Johns ambulance cadets presentation evening, not 100% sure what to donate yet but I am sure I'll go OTT as usual.

The next job is too pick out and package some of my makes to send to be photographed for a magazine feature, I dont know whats more nerve wracking; having my face in print or sending my items via royal mail.

The other thing keeping me busy is my eldest daughter, she is raising money for The Little Princess Trust who make real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer and their treatment.

Katie is also having 10 inches cut from her hair to donate which will be used to make a wig, please have a look at her page

Thats it from me for now as I must get to the post office before the school run Tx
